General Convention 2006

Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Then I will go to the altar of God, and I will praise you . . . Psalm 43:3-4

The General Convention of the Episcopal Church
met in Columbus, Ohio from June 11-21, 2006.
This blog offers a view of the convention and beyond from the perspective of Lydia Evans, a two-time lay deputy from the Diocese of South Carolina.
Visit the links found below for additional resources
as well as pre- and post-convention coverage.
Thank you for remembering the convention deputies and their families in your prayers. For further resources, visit my webpages.

Here's the Plan!

A Note on Today's Coverage from Greg Griffith:

For those of you seeking information on today's specially-called Joint Session of the HOB/HOD, read this. Every effort is being made to spread out traffic so that hopefully the sites will not crash. Note back-up addresses for Stand Firm and TitusOneNine. Visit and bookmark these sites so that you can still access them in the event of a crash.

Matt Kennedy will be live-blogging from the House of Deputies floor, not from the press room where he has been doing most of his coverage. Sarah Hey will also be on the floor doing running commentary. I will be taking both streams of information and posting them in one thread. Check back frequently at Stand Firm.

PLEASE NOTE: To the extent that both sites are available to me, I will posting the same commentary to this site and to the backup site.

I am expecting the biggest traffic day of all today, so my suggestion is this:

If you were born in an even-numbered year, go to the Blogspot site for your coverage of the joint session.

If you were born in an odd-numbered year, stay on this site. That will distribute the load among the two sites and perhaps keep them both going.

Having everyone on the same site - whether here or at Blogspot - will likely bring it down, and we'll spend all day bouncing from site to site, bringing them both down. PLEASE take this suggestion seriously! Thank you all for being here. We are humbled by your support.

Another note: T1:9 crashed hard just a moment ago. please check out Kendall's backup site here.
