Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Then I will go to the altar of God, and I will praise you . . . Psalm 43:3-4

How many times has your bishop been married?

In the latest issue of The Living Church --

Prior Marriage Information Dropped from Clerical Directory
06/07/2006

The Church Publishing Corp. will no longer list prior marriages, and the children from those marriages in the Episcopal Clerical Directory.

May I suggest that any Standing Committee or Episcopal Election Committee which relies on the Episcopal Clerical Directory for their background check deserves what they get?

The Diocese of Northern California recently elected the Rev. Canon Barry Beisner as their next bishop. Beisner has been married three times, his first two marriages having ended in divorce.

From last Saturday's Sacramento Bee: "It's not a big issue that is being discussed by a lot of people. Only a small group of conservatives are making an issue out of it," says Jan Nunley, director of communication for the Episcopal Church.

We'll see.
